Prerequisite: Studio Art
This elective is an introduction to black and white darkroom photography and digital photography. The student will learn to use a Digital camera and a 35 mm single Lens reflex (SLR) camera, develop and process film and print photographs using an enlarger in the darkroom. Basic digital photo-shop techniques and digital printing will be covered. Non 35 mm camera photographic processes, such as pinhole cameras and photograms, and dry mounting and presentation, will be explored. The design aspects of photography as an art form will be stressed with lessons addressing composition, line, tone, motion and depth of field, portraiture, landscape and commercial photography.
Requirements: Photography I Students must have access to a single lens reflex camera with manual adjustments for shutter speed and aperture and a Digital camera. (NOT a cell phone) Also an 16 GB or larger USB flashdrive, and an 16 GB or larger memory card for your digital camera. Some additional supplies may be required, and will need to be purchased by the student.

Class Expectations
In order to ensure that the art room remains a positive and safe learning environment for all students, it is required that all students be responsible for their actions and accept the consequences for them. I expect that the following guidelines are read, understood, and carried out. Failure to do so will result in progressive disciplinary consequences.
1. Follow directions the first time they are given
2. Show respect for others and their work AND for yourself and your work
3. Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings. Remain in your seat until the bell rings at the end of class.
4. No eating, drinking, or cell phones are permitted in the classroom.
Attitude/Participation
-Students are expected to be in class on time and ready to work. Lateness to class requires a pass. Repeated lateness to class will detract from your grade.
-Students should come to class with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a good work ethic. This will lead to success in class. Students are responsible for getting all notes, assignments, or h.w. missed while they were not in class. -Satisfactory participation consists of students being prepared and receptive to learning as well as contributing positively to the classroom.
Deadlines:
-Projects will be graded from the finished project. No project turned in = 0. Incomplete projects will receive a 50% maximum for a grade. -Projects must be turned in on the due date to receive full credit. Late assignments will lose 5 points per day. No work will be accepted later than one week after the original due date.
